# Section 3 - Addenda
# Jesus' Words on the Disgusting Thing
In Matthew 24, Jesus outlines the events associated with the time of his future presence, which is understood to be synonymous with the "last days". The use of "then" and "therefore" in verses 14 and 15 suggests a cause-and-effect relationship between the events described in these verses.
In verse 14, the global spread of the good news is depicted first, followed by the declaration that "the end" will come. The word "then" indicates that "the end" will commence after the good news has achieved a certain level of global coverage.
Following this, verse 15 begins with "Therefore," a word often used to introduce a result or consequence of the preceding statement. In this context, seeing the "disgusting thing" standing in a holy place is introduced after the arrival of "the end", implying that this event is a consequence or result of "the end" commencing. ↩︎
